Magic Moments
Preparations for the prom started weeks before the actual event. Tuxedos had to be
rented and gowns made. She didn't believe in buying something that
special. It was important enough to make the dress by hand. We only had to agree on the color....it was to be blue.
She wore a blue and white dress with white gloves. I wore a blue shirt with my
rented black tux. The corsage I picked was made of baby roses. She
pinned on me a single white carnation. Wheels to get to and from the prom
were provided by a mutual friend (Art) and his date. We broke away from our friends for an
intimate dinner, feasting at the Hungry Hunter. It was followed by a short stroll down Fisherman's Wharf. We
got a caricature sketch of ourselves before reconnecting with Art, who
magically transported us to the Fairmont Hotel, the site of our prom.

The music at the prom was loud, but it was live. We skipped the fast dances and danced to all the slow tunes. We made " Stoned in Love" (even though we weren't stoned) "our song" and we were taken to a " Natural High" the whole evening. It was our first and only time in that famous glass elevator and a trip to the top to get a first hand look at the rotating bar. Naturally pictures were taken and memories were made. It was truly a magic moment.

The night ended close to 1 am and the magic moment became a memory. My
regret was that I never kissed my sweetheart at the prom. I was too shy or
maybe just caught up with the moment. I think she knew, because she kissed
me as we waited by Art's car.
